The glamping facilities in Ehime Prefecture that we will introduce here are all located on islands in the Seto Inland Sea. The views and tranquility unique to island glamping are what make it so appealing. Here, we will introduce two glamping facilities in Ehime Prefecture that are listed on ResortGlamping.com. Both are located on remote islands, so there are restrictions on ferry and shuttle times. Please be sure to check the timetable before making a reservation.

Glamp Terrace is located on Okamura Island in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, the endpoint of the "Akinada Tobishima Kaido," a road connected to Kure City in Hiroshima Prefecture by seven bridges. Blessed with a mild climate, little rain, and plenty of sunshine, the island offers ocean glamping with stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea.
There are a total of six guest rooms. The four "Ocean Domes," with their transparent front panels, offer a luxurious space where you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Seto Inland Sea from inside your room. There are also two "Garden Domes," each with a private lawn garden in front, perfect for enjoying private activities such as playing ball, picnicking, or stargazing. All rooms accommodate 2 to 8 people and are equipped with four double beds, air conditioning, and a two-door refrigerator. The bed mattresses are made by the high-end brand Simmons (except in some rooms).
Each unit features a deck terrace where you can have a bonfire and an all-weather dining area, so you can enjoy a BBQ even on rainy days. Since electric grills are used for the BBQ, there is no need to prepare charcoal. You can bring your own ingredients and enjoy a BBQ at your leisure, or you can order a glamping BBQ set featuring wagyu steak and seafood paella, or a hot sandwich breakfast as an option.
Free rental bicycles are available, allowing you to leisurely explore the island. You can also enjoy sea fishing from the breakwater on the premises, and sea kayaking and SUP experiences are available in the surrounding area.

"GLAMPROOK Shimanami," a glamping and hotel resort based on the concept of "a journey to an island that expands your mind," is located on Umajima Island in the Seto Inland Sea, at the foot of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. Although it is only about a 15-minute drive from Imabari city center, it is a special island with a population of less than 10 people. All guest rooms face the sea, allowing you to enjoy a stay enveloped in the tranquility and sense of freedom unique to the island.
There are a total of 16 guest rooms. The glamping-style "COCOON HOUSE" is a unique cocoon-shaped tent with an outdoor living area, offering an open and airy space that accommodates 4 people, has 4 semi-double beds, and an interior area of 100 square meters. There are two types of hotel rooms: the "JUNIOR SUITE" with a queen-size bed and the "SUPERIOR TWIN" with a semi-open-air bath. The resort caters to a wide range of travel styles, from couples to multi-generational families.
All meals are included in the all-inclusive style. Dinner is a course meal featuring local specialties from the Seto Inland Sea, and breakfast is a one-plate meal with a choice of Japanese or Western style. The accommodation fee also includes an all-you-can-drink bar, a panoramic bath overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, sea glass collecting, a cave exploration experience in a natural cave, and complimentary drinks on your private deck, so you can relax without worrying about extra charges. This facility is recommended for those seeking a higher-class glamping experience.

To make your glamping trip in Ehime even more enjoyable, be sure to check out the surrounding tourist attractions as well. Ehime has many attractive spots, such as cycling routes where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the Seto Inland Sea and Dogo Onsen, famous as Japan's oldest hot spring. Here are five recommended spots to visit before or after your glamping trip.

The Shimanami Kaido, connecting Imabari City in Ehime Prefecture and Onomichi City in Hiroshima Prefecture, is a 60km-long sea route that links six islands in the Seto Inland Sea with seven bridges. Known worldwide as a "mecca for cyclists," it allows you to traverse the islands by bicycle or on foot while enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Seto Inland Sea. Each island also boasts numerous attractions such as observation decks, beaches, and cafes.
The entire route takes about 6 to 10 hours, but a shorter course crossing only the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge on the Imabari side can be enjoyed in 1 to 2 hours. We recommend a plan where you work up a sweat cycling before checking into your glamping site, and then relax and enjoy an outdoor stay in the evening.

Dogo Onsen, said to be the oldest hot spring resort in Japan, is a classic tourist spot in Ehime Prefecture. The symbol of the resort, the Dogo Onsen Main Building, is a three-story wooden building constructed in 1894 and is designated as a National Important Cultural Property. There are several other bathing facilities in the surrounding area, such as Dogo Onsen Bekkan Asuka no Yu and Tsubaki no Yu, each offering a different atmosphere.
The hot spring town is lined with souvenir shops and restaurants, and strolling around in a yukata (traditional Japanese summer kimono) is a charming experience. Its easy accessibility, being reachable by tram from Matsuyama city center, is also a major draw. It's the perfect spot to stop by and relax after a glamping trip.

This sightseeing boat offers a close-up experience of the powerful currents of the Kurushima Strait, one of Japan's three major tidal currents. The view of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge, the world's first triple suspension bridge, from directly below, and the dynamic sight of the swirling rapids are breathtaking. The approximately 45-50 minute boat trip allows you to feel the raw power of nature in the Seto Inland Sea. The tour also visits historical islands such as Kurushima, the site of the Murakami pirate castle, and Kojima, where the remains of the Geiyo Fortress's gun batteries can be found.
Because the direction and strength of the currents change with the tides, one of the attractions is that you can enjoy different scenery depending on when you board the boat. Since it is not a regular service and the operating times change daily depending on the tides, please check the official website in advance.

Both facilities in Ehime are located on remote islands, so planning your trip around ferry and transfer times is essential. Here, we've divided the itinerary by facility and proposed two model courses: a 1-night, 2-day course and a 2-night, 3-day course. These itineraries include travel time, so please feel free to adjust them to suit your travel schedule.
Upon arriving in Imabari city in the morning, choose some Imabari towels as souvenirs at the Towel Museum. For lunch, enjoy Imabari's specialty, Yakibuta Tamago Meshi (roast pork and egg rice). In the afternoon, take a Shimanami Kurushima Kaikyo sightseeing boat (a rapid current viewing boat, approximately 45-50 minutes) and enjoy the spectacular view of the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge from the sea.
Arrive at Imabari Port with plenty of time to spare so you can catch the shuttle bus.Park your car in the guest-only parking lot at the port and take a free shuttle bus (reservations required) to Umajima Island. After checking in, enjoy island time by collecting sea glass, exploring caves, and relaxing in the observation bath overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. Dinner is a course meal featuring local Seto Inland Sea specialties. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing time at the bar with an all-you-can-drink beverage in hand, listening to the sound of the waves.
In the morning, enjoy a Japanese-Western style one-plate breakfast while gazing at the sea. With a leisurely 11:00 AM checkout, you'll have plenty of time to explore the island. After returning to Imabari Port, drive across the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge on the Shimanami Kaido, and enjoy the panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea from Kirosan Observation Park on Oshima Island before heading home.
On the first day, we'll head to Dogo Onsen in Matsuyama City. We'll enjoy the historic hot springs at Dogo Onsen Main Building and Asuka-no-Yu Onsen, and stroll through the hot spring town. For lunch, we'll have Matsuyama's specialty, Tai-meshi (sea bream rice). In the afternoon, we'll travel towards Imabari (about an hour) and stay overnight in Imabari City.
On the second day, cross the Shimanami Kaido to Omishima Island (about 40 minutes from Imabari IC). Visit Oyamazumi Shrine and admire the magnificent camphor tree, said to be 2,600 years old.The important part here is shopping for supplies.Since there are very few shops on Okamura Island, be sure to buy groceries and drinks before you go to the island.
Take a ferry from Munakata Port to Okamura Port (approximately 20 minutes). Please check the ferry schedule in advance and choose a ferry that will allow you to make the 15 PM check-in.Upon arrival, you can explore the island using the free rental bicycles or enjoy sea fishing from the breakwater. In the evening, you can gather around a bonfire on the deck terrace and enjoy the Seto Inland Sea night with your own food and BBQ set.
Check-out is at 10am. After packing your bags, take a ride around the island on a rental bicycle (90-minute sessions available from 10am, first-come, first-served basis). Take the ferry back to Omishima and head towards Imabari along the Shimanami Kaido. If you have time, we recommend trying a short cycling trip across the Kurushima Kaikyo Bridge. Purchase souvenirs at the Towel Museum, enjoy an Imabari specialty lunch, and then head home.

Kagawa, Kochi, and Ehime prefectures, which border Tokushima Prefecture, also boast a wealth of attractive glamping facilities. Why not combine your Shikoku trip with a glamping tour across prefectures? Here, we introduce three facilities in neighboring prefectures that are listed on ResortGlamping.com. Experience glamping with a different atmosphere than that of Tokushima.

Located in eastern Kagawa Prefecture, facing the Seto Inland Sea, "Beach SPA TSUDA" is a private villa that can be rented out to just four groups per day. Each villa is 109 square meters and can accommodate up to six people. With a spacious living area and a loft, it is ideal for families and groups. Each villa has its own terrace with an open-air bath and BBQ space, where you can spend a blissful time surrounded by the gentle sound of the Seto Inland Sea waves while gazing at the starry sky. Tsuda no Matsubara Beach, selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Beaches," is also nearby. It is about a 2-hour and 30-minute drive from Matsuyama city via expressway.

This is a secluded glamping site in Kiyahira, Mima City, Tokushima Prefecture, nestled in the mountain range of Mt. Tsurugi (1,955 meters above sea level), the second highest mountain in western Japan. The large dome tents, each 6 meters in diameter, are equipped with four beds and air conditioning, and there is a covered BBQ area where you can enjoy barbecues even on rainy days.
The meal plan includes a full course meal centered around "Hirara-yaki," a local Tokushima dish where a whole amego trout is grilled on top of miso. There is also a room-only plan where you can bring your own ingredients and enjoy an original BBQ. Guests can use the large public bath and sauna at the adjacent bathing facility, "Tsurugi no Yu Ozakura." The property also has a sauna, a cold bath with water drawn directly from the upper reaches of the Anabuki River, and a relaxation space with views of the Tsurugi Mountain Range. It is about a 3.5-hour drive from Matsuyama city, making it perfect for a trip that allows you to enjoy both the mountains and the sea of Shikoku.

This glamping facility is located next to the Sky Hill Golf Club in Shimanto-cho, Takaoka-gun, Kochi Prefecture. Guests can choose from three accommodation styles: dome-shaped tents equipped with air conditioning, heating, individual BBQ spaces, baths, and toilets; camping trailers; and auto campsites. Meals feature BBQ centered around local Shimanto area ingredients such as the local brand rice "Niida Rice," Shimanto pork, and Shimanto chicken. The clear skies of Shimanto-cho, known for its starry night sky, are also a major attraction. It is also close to the Shimanto River, Japan's last remaining pristine river, making it a great option for a trip combined with sightseeing along the Shimanto River.
Glamping in Ehime Prefecture is all about the experience of staying on an island in the Seto Inland Sea. If you want to enjoy cooking your own meals and barbecuing at your leisure, choose Glamp Terrace on Okamura Island. If you want a package that includes meals and activities, choose Granrook Shimanami on Umajima Island. The nature of your stay will differ greatly depending on which you choose. Combining it with nearby attractions such as cycling along the Shimanami Kaido, Dogo Onsen, and Oyamazumi Shrine will make for a trip where you can fully experience the charm of Ehime. Since all facilities are located on remote islands, we recommend checking ferry and transfer times and making reservations well in advance.
