As the end of the year approaches, we two women go on a glamping trip to heal the mind and body in the great outdoors. This year, it's a little early to celebrate the year's hard work, but I heard a rumor that a new glamping facility was opened on the shores of Lake Biwa, so I decided to go out.
We headed to Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama, which opened in October 2021.This glamping facility is located right next to the shores of Lake Biwa, which is lined with the ``Kosai Pine Forest,'' which has been selected as one of the 10 Landscapes of Lake Country, and allows you to enjoy the outdoors while feeling the richness of nature.
It was the perfect facility for those of us who wanted to escape from everyday life and spend some luxury and relaxation in a quiet environment.

Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama is located in a location that is easy to get to, even for women who are not very confident in driving a car.Isn't this a very important point for women-only trips? When it comes to glamping, there are many places that can only be reached by car, so if you're not good at driving, you might just give up on going.
However, Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama has good access from Osaka, Kyoto, and Hyogo, and is also easily accessible by train, so it's also recommended for people who have given up on glamping because they can't take a car!The nearest station to the facility is Omi-Imazu Station on the JR Kosei Line. If you make a reservation at least 3 days in advance, you can also use the free shuttle service from the station, which is very convenient. We accidentally forgot to make a reservation, so we took a taxi from Omi-Imazu Station, but the taxi cost was 1,000 yen and we received change.
We quickly arrived at the facility and headed to our room!Actually, I was looking forward to hearing that Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama has three types of unique glamping tents.
What's more, this time I reserved the "Connect Dome", which has an eye-catching unique shape. This very spacious room, which is the size of two dome tents, can accommodate up to 2 people, so it's perfect for a large girls' night out or a group trip...but this time, we decided to spend it luxuriously with two women!
However, the room was extremely spacious...The ceiling is high and part of the tent is a skeleton, giving it a very open feel.It feels larger than it actually is.Even the ``Standard Dome'', which is the size of one dome, has a diameter of 7 meters, which is wide enough.I see... Even the Standard Dome was too spacious for two women...?We couldn't help but look at each other and smile bitterly. However, in the calm and spacious Connect Dome, I was able to relax and enjoy a luxurious feeling. I think it's possible for two people to use it!
After relaxing in your room, go for a walk around Lake Biwa. After all, one of the purposes of glamping is to experience nature and enjoy the outdoors. It’s not enough just to have luxurious facilities!Being in a location where you can get close to nature is an important point when it comes to glamping.
In that respect, Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama is in a very nice location, with the magnificent Lake Biwa spreading out just outside the facility. What's more, this area is home to the Imazu Beach Swimming Pool, so you can enjoy swimming in the lake in the summer!
On this day with a pleasant autumn breeze, let's take a walk around Lake Biwa. When the sun sets, the sky turns a magical pink color, and you can't help but admire the elegant scenery. In the morning, you can watch the sunrise, so we recommend an early morning walk.Being able to see the scenery of Lake Biwa that changes depending on the time of day is a valuable experience that can only be experienced here.During your stay here, I would like you to change the time of day and enjoy the scenery of Lake Biwa as many times as you like.
However...despite saying that, I actually overslept and missed out on the fun. I decided to enjoy this spectacular view of "Asahi x Lake Biwa" with a photo taken by a friend...
After a leisurely stroll around Lake Biwa, it's time for dinner! When we returned from our walk, the "Glamping BBQ" set had been delivered to the deck space next to the tent.
So, after the walk, I decided to start preparing dinner right away. Grilling and warming up food while having fun on the gas grill installed in the BBQ space...That's the kind of fun that can only be found in glamping! You can enjoy a completely different experience than just eating the provided meal.
This time, since we were traveling by train, we wanted to travel light, so we chose a plan that included meals. At Glamping BBQ, which uses ingredients from Shiga, the Omi beef steak definitely caught my eye. This was delicious eaten freshly grilled with the wasabi soy sauce that came with it.Give it a try!
The other menu items that made me think, ``This is glamping!'' include Dutch oven and skillet dishes such as ``Turnip and chicken stewed in a Dutch oven'' and ``Abalone and colorful vegetable ajillo.''Not only does it taste good, but it's also a must-have dish for glamping meals, as it enlivens the outdoor mood!
And one more thing!Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama's inclusive service doubles the enjoyment of dinner. This facility has a self-service free bar where you can enjoy as much beer, wine, and soft drinks as you like for free. You can also take it to your room, so you can enjoy a drink with your meal.
What caught my attention were the four types of beer.Local beers from all over the country are lined up, making it irresistible for beer lovers!According to the staff, the type of beer they serve changes from time to time.I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of food will be available when I stay there. My favorite is the local beer, which has a soft berry aroma.Needless to say, the meal went well.
Glamping is endless fun!The great appeal of Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama is that it makes you feel this way.Even after the meal is finished, the day is not over yet.
Dinner was more filling than it looked, so we decided to take a short break before dessert. We decided to move the fun to a separate fire pit in our private garden.
To start a bonfire, all you have to do is pick up a bonfire set at the administration building, then line up the firewood in the fire space and light it.There are instructions on how to assemble firewood in the facility usage guide in your room, so it shouldn't be too difficult.
We watched the fire, enjoyed chocolate fondant for dinner, served with hot coffee, and chatted until the fire went out.You can't help but lose track of time during a very enjoyable outdoor moment. Before I knew it, it was already late in the night.
Actually, Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama has a private bath (40 yen/tax included for 2000 minutes) that requires reservations, but I enjoyed the bonfire so much that I gave up on the private bath...You can take a bath whenever you like. We used the bath attached to the deck space.
The separate fire spaces in each section are useful when you want to talk with friends without hesitation, or when you want to let the kids experience a bonfire to their heart's content. You can also get marshmallows and popcorn for free, so you can enjoy making roasted marshmallows and popcorn using this bonfire.
By the way, there is also a shared campfire at the entrance of the free bar.Having a campfire with other guests is a great part of traveling, as you can meet new people!Once the coronavirus pandemic subsides, you might be able to enjoy conversations with people who happen to be sitting next to you.Isn't the appeal of this place that you can enjoy it in many different ways by choosing the location and activity, even if it's just a bonfire?
Last night, we enjoyed glamping so much that we didn't even have time to sleep, tasting food unique to our destination, playing by the bonfire, and chatting, and we have a lot of plans for today as well.I'm strangely hungry, so I'm going to have a big breakfast!
Breakfast is mainly a bagel sandwich, and you can choose from two types: avocado & salmon or adberry jam & cream cheese. We both chose avocado & salmon.I sandwiched salad, avocado, and salmon into a bagel, but there were so many toppings that I couldn't finish the sandwich. As you can see, it was so voluminous that it was difficult to swallow.
By the way, Adberry jam is a specialty product of Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture.I've even seen this dish, with its refreshing sourness and sweetness, at souvenir shops in tourist areas.
After checking out Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama, we decided to head to a certain place. That is Chikubu Island, which is known as a power spot.
Chikubu Island has been worshiped as a sacred place since the Yayoi period over 2000 years ago, and the remains of the syncretism of Shinto and Buddhism remain on the island. There are shrines and temples designated as national treasures and important cultural properties, such as Hogonji Temple, which is dedicated to Benzaiten, and Tsukubusuma Shrine, and when you visit each one of them and join your hands together, you will feel a strange feeling as if you have been given real power.
Above all, the view of Lake Biwa from the high ground of the island is the best and will make you feel refreshed.Perhaps the best way to understand why it is a power spot is to actually visit and experience it for yourself!
There are three routes to Chikubu Island: the Imazu route, the Nagahama route, and the Lake Biwa crossing route, but if you want to stop by on your way to and from Glamping Village Shiga Imazuhama, board the boat at Imazu Port, which is a 5-minute walk from JR Omi-Imazu Station. It is recommended to take the Imazu route. The journey from the port to the island takes 25 minutes.
A glamping trip to Shiga where you can soothe your mind and body through glamping, and then return home fully energized on a mysterious island. It was a great holiday that refreshed both body and mind!
