I became a university student this year.
I'm enjoying my new life with new friends, a part-time job I started at university, and daily lectures, but I'm so busy every day that I start to feel a little tired after Golden Week. So, I planned a weekend trip with my best friend since childhood! Although they both agreed that they wanted to spend their time gazing at the scenery without thinking about anything, neither of them had driver's licenses yet, so they gave up on outdoor activities that required a car. However, I discovered a glamping facility with a friend who said, ``You can go here by train and boat!'' The two of us decided to go to an island in the Seto Inland Sea.

Have you ever wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city? However, if you want to go to a place that is truly rich in nature, you will need a car. That was a problem, but the facility we visited this time allows you to enjoy an extraordinary boat trip, and there is a shuttle service, so you can enjoy the outdoors without a car!
The destination is "Sunshine Glamping Etajima".This glamping facility is located on Etajima, one of the islands in the Seto Inland Sea.From Hiroshima Station, take the tram to Hiroshima Ujina Port, enjoy a 30-minute boat trip, arrive at Nakamachi Port, and then take the facility's shuttle to the site.Transfers between trains and ships are smooth, and you won't get stuck in traffic even on weekends, so you won't get tired of traveling! It's amazing that you can come to such a natural place without a car.
By the way, in addition to Nakamachi Pier, the shuttle will also come to Mitaka Pier.
"What a view! It's so beautiful!"
The moment we went up to the roof, we both cheered at the same time.
This facility has a dome-shaped tent on the roof with an outstanding view. The scenery of the calm sea of Setouchi and the islands of various sizes floating there is a spectacular view that can only be seen in Setouchi. My friend was very excited, saying, ``It's like jumping into a photo!''
What's more, when you look up from the sea and island scenery, the sky feels closer than usual. The facility itself is located on a hill on the island, and since you're on the roof of a building, you can almost reach the blue sky. This is the real thrill of rooftop glamping.
From the moment we arrived on the rooftop, we were so captivated by the view that we completely forgot to go into our room. After enjoying the rooftop, we finally went inside the tent.
Our room had a capacity of 2 people with 3 single beds. The room feels spacious probably due to the high ceiling and large windows. You can see the Seto Inland Sea from the windows that are almost half way inside the tent, so you won't lose the sense of openness even when you enter the room! The refreshing interior, which is based on white and blue, matches the scenery seen from the window, creating a space where you will want to relax forever.
It was just about the time it started to get hot, so it was nice to have air conditioning. As I was relaxing with a cup of coffee or tea in the common space, I found myself dozing off from how comfortable it was...I would have seriously fallen asleep if my friend hadn't woken me up.
“If you don’t mind, would you like to experience the summer festival feeling?”
I went to the festival corner after being recommended by the staff! On the first floor of the building, there is a space where you can try your hand at making popcorn and cotton candy, and play darts.
We will start by making popcorn. When you put dried corn and caramel sugar into a special machine, you'll be excited to see what happens next. Both of them were silently staring at the machine! After a while, when popcorn popped out of the oven, the two of them couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow!" and had a great time.Afterwards, my friend tried making cotton candy using colorful sugar. Both of them went back to their childhood and played engrossed.
It's amazing that you can enjoy this for free as many times as you like. The hours are from 15pm to 20pm.
At 17pm, dinner was brought to the dining area next to the tent.
As the staff said, ``If the food is delicious, the trip will be more enjoyable!'' Just as the staff said, the glamping BBQ served on the table was luxurious and full of volume! The large steak is Hiroshima beef, and the oysters in the shell are also locally sourced. The ingredients are carefully sourced from Hiroshima and the local Etajima region.
Next came a skillet dish topped with large abalone and red shrimp! My heart flutters at how gorgeous it is.Moreover, there are 5 types of skillets including ``Tomato and Cheese Ajillo'' and ``Grilled Chicken Thighs''.As the items were lined up one after another, I was getting more and more excited.
I was a little worried, “Will I be able to finish this much?!” But once we started eating, it was so delicious that we both finished it without being able to stop using our chopsticks! The open outdoor location close to the sky and the many dishes that conveyed the facility's hospitality filled my stomach as well as my soul.I think it's enough to fill up even a group of young men!
Even after dinner, we were still in good spirits.Fireworks were on sale at the facility, so we decided to enjoy our first fireworks of the year! We played in the common area near the parking lot until 20pm.
After that, go to the bonfire space near the entrance of the facility.Even though I ate so much dinner, when I see a big marshmallow, I just want to do it...Point the marshmallow on a metal skewer and throw it into the flames. Each side glances at the other person's marshmallow, silently competing to see who can fry it better. In the end, both of them were burnt and we both burst out laughing.Even casual shots like this are unique to traveling.I felt that a luxurious time was passing by.
After returning to the tent, I took a look at the astronomical telescope that was placed in the room. The island is said to be a perfect place for astronomical observation as there is little light around it.The sky was cloudy that day, so it wasn't a sky full of stars, but if the weather is good, you should be able to see a starry sky.
Actually, this facility has a private bath with a sauna on the premises of the annex. The price is 50 yen for 4,000 minutes. There are four available times: 17:18, 19:20, 4:XNUMX, and XNUMX:XNUMX.Recently, I was planning to make a reservation with a friend to try a popular sauna, but I got so absorbed in enjoying the experience from the moment we arrived that I completely forgot about it.This is the only thing I regret...I definitely want to go next time!
However, as soon as you enter the building from the rooftop, there is a shower room that you can use free of charge 24 hours a day, so don't worry if you have too much fun!Available late at night or early in the morning. In addition to shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, we also had all the necessary amenities such as hair dryers, toothbrushes, towels, and room wear!
Even though we played a lot today, we are still feeling energetic.Maybe people don't get tired when they do something fun!
We still couldn't sleep, so we decided to play UNO and Othello in the common space. This can be rented for free. There was also a bubble gun to make soap bubbles.
I'm usually used to smartphones and digital games, so it's very refreshing to sit down and play a game with a friend. There was a lot of excitement, and before I knew it, the date had changed. We were once again struck by the appeal of glamping, realizing that you can have so much fun even without digital devices.
Wake up at 5am.This is the sunrise time on Etajima during the time we visited. The reason why I woke up at this time was because I wanted to drink delicious coffee while watching the sunrise!
Actually, the day before, I found two types of coffee beans and a grinder set in the common space. The two of us had decided to enjoy some authentic coffee in the clear morning air while watching the sunrise.
When you start grinding the beans in the mill, you can hear the grinding sound and the pleasant aroma of the beans, and your body will gradually wake up.When you transfer the ground beans to a filter and pour in hot water, the aroma of freshly ground coffee spreads around you, making you feel so happy!Drinking coffee while watching the scenery of the Seto Inland Sea and islands slowly emerging from the morning mist was so delicious that words cannot describe it.
Afterwards, we had a relaxing breakfast and left the facility.
We spent two days overlooking the blue sky, sea, and green islands from the rooftop. There are plenty of activities to do, such as eating delicious food, playing like children at fairs and games, and enjoying the finest coffee. It was a glamping trip that made me realize how much I feel energetic and active when I am surrounded by nature.
Come back again when you feel a little tired!I'm sure my friend thinks so too.
