I experienced glamping for the first time at "SHIOSAI TERRACE PREMIUM GLAMPING RESORT" with a friend from high school who I always hang out with when I return to my hometown.
If you're thinking, "Isn't glamping something only girls and couples do?", you're wrong.
BBQ in the great outdoors, making pizza in the oven, and drinking beer while looking at the night sky.The two men had a great time together!

My schedule suddenly became vacant, so I called my friend (A), who I always hang out with, and said, ``Maybe I should go back to my hometown for a while.'' During holidays such as Golden Week and Obon, the two of us enjoy camping, fishing, BBQ, etc., but this time it's the rainy season.I'm worried about rain, and I don't have time to prepare because I'm only going back for the weekend.
While we were discussing what we should do, A suggested, "Well, how about glamping?"
The glamping facility "Shiosai Terrace", which was built in the Shirahama area of Wakayama, seems to be quite popular and has become a bit of a hot topic.
``There's no need to prepare, and even if it rains, it's okay. You can enjoy the BBQ just like in a hotel.'' ``We're old enough, too (lol), why don't we try camping a little richer?'' A was enthusiastic.
``But is glamping only for girls and children? I wonder if we can enjoy it?'' I was worried at first.
``You can eat delicious food, and I wanted to try it at least once,'' says A, who is completely eager to go.
So we thought we should go, and with A's encouragement, we decided to go glamping for two men in Shirahama, Wakayama.
I met up with A near my parents' house and drove to Shiosai Terrace in the Shirahama area.Exit the expressway at Nankitanabe IC and head down towards Shirahama.
Just past the Toretore Market, Nanki's largest fish market, there was an intersection called the Airport Entrance.Turn left and go up the mountain. The scenery outside the train window gradually changes from the city to a summer resort, which will get the outdoor enthusiast's blood racing.
It takes 2-3 minutes from the intersection. It took about 20 minutes after getting off the expressway.
After arriving, we were able to park our car directly in front of the dome where we would be staying. It was easy to carry and unload, and I was a little impressed by how convenient it was compared to auto camping.By the way, parking is available for free.
If you look around the scenery, you will see domes dotted on a spacious lawn in a quiet and majestic natural environment. The exterior of the dome has a stylish contrast that instantly gives it an unusual feel.Since you can rent out one dome tent as a group, you can maintain your own private space, which is great for outdoor activities for adults!
There was also a convenience store and a 5-hour supermarket within a 24-minute drive from the dome facility.
Check in first. Go to the front desk facility near the entrance of "Shioshi Terrace".
When checking in at the front desk, the staff were kind and polite.Dinner and breakfast times, activities you can try, shared facilities such as the administration building, guests can use the nearby super public bath (Toretore no Yu), etc.Even I, a beginner in glamping, can understand it in one go.Near the front desk, there were souvenir and alcohol sales, drink vending machines, and a restaurant.
After completing the check-in and explanation, we finally headed to the dome where we would be staying.
After checking in, first go to the dome tent where you will stay.
When I entered, I was greeted by a chic and luxurious room that looked like an Asian resort hotel. The two men smiled at the interior, which seemed like something women would enjoy, and said, ``It looks like it's on Instagram,'' and ``It's like a #glamping girls' night out.''
The room is larger than a typical hotel, and can comfortably accommodate two men. I thought it could be used by 4 or more people. There are two beds, and if there are more than 2 people, they will sleep on mattresses. It seems like it would be a good idea to invite other friends and use it in a group, saying, ``Maybe next time we can have more than 3 people.'' ``That's great.''
Facilities include a refrigerator, air conditioner, table, hanger rack, 2 chairs, electrical outlet, and hair dryer.Amenities include toothbrushing sets, bath towels, hand towels, and pajamas, just like you would find in a hotel.
Thanks to the free-standing air conditioner, we were able to stay cool and comfortable. It's the best of both camping and hotels.
Although flush toilets, sinks, and shower rooms were shared, they were all very clean and comfortable to use.Although we didn't use it this time, the shower room was equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and body soap.
At the invitation of A, who said, ``The view is amazing!'', we went out to the premium terrace.
The dome is located on top of a mountain, so the view from the terrace is spectacular! You could also see the Kii Channel. You can enjoy different atmospheres in the morning, afternoon, and evening.I never thought that the view of nature that I thought could only be experienced while camping could be enjoyed so easily.
The terrace is equipped with an outdoor living room and a private BBQ space. You can enjoy food, drinks, and BBQ while looking at the scenery and feeling the pleasant breeze.Enjoy nature all to yourself in a truly private space!
The private BBQ space has a roof. When we used it, we were lucky to have good weather even though it was the rainy season, but it seems like you can use it without worrying even in strong rain or wind. It's also great that it doesn't depend on the weather!
At check-in, we were given information on a free outdoor cooking experience. You can choose between wood-fired pizza or popcorn. We were reasonably hungry, so we immediately answered, "Pizza!"We headed to the administration building where we could try our hand at making pizza.
When you give your ticket to the administration building staff, you will be given the dough, ingredients, cooking utensils, and recipe with instructions on how to make it.Basically, you can make it without any problems by looking at the recipe, but if you have any questions, you can ask the staff and they will be able to help you.He even helped me put the pizza in the wood-fired oven.
Once the pizza was completed, we headed to the table in the administration building. The pizza was freshly baked in a wood-fired oven and was delicious!
A and I have already done a lot of outdoor cooking, but this was our first time baking pizza in a wood-fired oven. The great thing about glamping is that you can easily and easily experience making delicious pizza yourself.Even couples, women, and families who are new to outdoor cooking can enjoy this experience.Next time, I would like to come with her.
In the administration building, there was a laundry room and a drink shop, selling not only beer, chuhai, sake, and liqueurs, but also Wakayama's local beer, the famous Nagisa Beer. You can get enough drinks without having to shop nearby.
Also, although we did not participate this time, there was a communal campfire in front of the administration building from 19:00pm to 21:00pm.You can also enjoy roasted marshmallows.
Return to your room and take photos and videos indoors and on the terrace.I uploaded it on SNS out of the blue (lol)
I had a little time until dinner, so I decided to take a bath before dinner. We headed to our affiliated super public bath, Tore Tore no Yu, which is about a 3 minute drive away.
Enjoy Shirahama's natural hot springs using the bathing tickets that guests receive. In addition to the spacious large public bath, there is also a sauna and open-air bath. After taking a bath, put your hands on your hips and gulp down the standard bottled milk!
It's almost time for dinner. ``Okay, I'll drink as much as I can!'' I said, and went to a nearby supermarket to get some alcohol and drinks before heading back to my room.
There are also overnight plans where you can bring your own ingredients, but this time we booked a one-night, half-board plan that included BBQ dinner and breakfast.Normally, we would bring our own food when camping with other guys, but since we had to return to Osaka the next day, we decided on a plan that would allow us to enjoy the luxury of not having to clean up afterwards.
Dinner can be delivered to the BBQ space in each room.Luxurious ingredients such as Kuroge Wagyu beef and spiny lobster, local fresh seafood from Wakayama, pork, vegetables, etc. are abundant.
The stove used for BBQ is gas type. The staff will carefully teach you how to put it on and take it off. There was no need to start a fire, and you could enjoy BBQ using delicious ingredients right away.
Since we are two guys who eat a lot, we keep adding more ingredients to the stove.I had brought some overnight dried turban shells and squid with me, thinking that the prepared ingredients might not be enough, but since the ingredients in the plan were quite large, I had a hard time finishing them all.
Cheers with beer while grilling the ingredients! The story gets exciting.I also made clam chowder, aqua pazza, and baked apples using the skillet.Enjoy a BBQ on the terrace surrounded by nature and enjoying a pleasant breeze. It feels like an adult man's weekend on a higher level.
After finishing dinner, we enjoyed drinks on the terrace while looking at the starry sky. While enjoying a bonfire in a dedicated fire pit, you can talk about work, current status, and the future.I had a heart-to-heart conversation with my friends in the midst of nature.
When I started to feel sleepy, I headed back indoors. There is no need to set up a tent, prepare a sleeping bag, or use insect repellent.I got into a comfortable bed and slept soundly.
I woke up after a good night's sleep, probably because I was tired from the day.Breakfast starts at 7:30.You can have it brought to your room.
Breakfast consisted of panini, salad, yogurt, and tangerine juice. The BBQ stove is also useful for making breakfast. For panini, the ingredients are sandwiched between breads and a special mesh is set.Just toast it on the BBQ stove. The aroma of melting cheese and baking bread filled the terrace.
If you buy a panini at a convenience store, you just pop it in the microwave and that's it, but this one time in the middle of nature.I enjoyed the panini, which was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
The mandarin orange juice is 100% straight mandarin oranges called "drinkable mandarin oranges."We use local Arita mandarin oranges from Wakayama.Wakayama is also a mandarin orange production area that rivals Ehime!
The crisp sourness and rich sweetness make it perfect for drinking mandarin orange juice in the morning. It's very luxurious, but I thought it might be a great addition to vodka, gin, or shochu...so I bought it as a souvenir.
I still enjoy it at home in Osaka and miss the taste of my hometown.
After breakfast, check out.I have to go back to Osaka.
However, there are many sightseeing spots and facilities around Shiosai Terrace within a 15-minute drive! There are plenty of spots you can enjoy even on a day trip. This time, before checking in to Shiosai Terrace, we stopped by Shirarahama Beach, the most popular beach in Wakayama.
Shirahama Airport is also located near Shiosai Terrace. There is one round trip flight a day from Haneda Airport, so it is conveniently accessible from the Tokyo metropolitan area.
It's also close to Nanki's largest market, Toretore Market, so it's a great place to look for souvenirs and ingredients. It's also great to watch a tuna butchering show and eat a seafood bowl.
In conclusion, glamping can be a fulfilling and satisfying time even for two young men.Even outdoor enthusiasts like us were able to enjoy nature and BBQ.What makes me especially happy is that it's easy and I don't have to worry about the weather. You can enjoy authentic BBQ and nature without any preparation.
Recommended for working people who don't have a lot of time and don't want to spend time preparing for camping. It is also convenient when you are traveling from a long distance and want to reduce your luggage as much as possible. It's also great that you don't have to clean up afterward, so you can go straight to work the next day.
What's more, the glamping experience with friendly friends was full of elements such as ``luxury,'' ``comfort,'' and ``comfort'' that were different from regular camping.
Glamping is perfect for adults who want to be healed by nature, delicious food, and an extraordinary experience.Above all, it lowers the hurdles for outdoor activities.Since you can enjoy it safely even with children, people are excited that it might be a good idea to invite friends with families to go glamping as a group.
