Kagawa Prefecture, Higashikagawa City

Shirotori Shrine, located in Matsubara, Higashikagawa City, Kagawa Prefecture, is a historic shrine with a legend that the soul of Yamato Takeru no Mikoto transformed into a swan and descended to the earth.
Within the temple grounds, there is a camphor tree that is approximately 30 meters tall and over 800 years old, and it has been selected as one of the "Top 100 Scented Landscapes" by the Ministry of the Environment.
During the autumn festival, a rare tiger lion dance called "Toragashira no Mai," a prefectural designated intangible folk cultural property, is dedicated to the shrine. Furthermore, within the shrine grounds is a unique mountain called "Miyama," which stands 3.6 meters above sea level and is the lowest mountain in Japan, for which climbing certificates are issued.
