Recently, glamping and camping have been featured on TV and other media, and my children's yearning for the outdoors is increasing day by day. However, her self-proclaimed "city-raised" father, who hates insects, is reluctant...
So, for this family trip, we decided to look for a glamping facility that had comfortable accommodations while also allowing us to fully enjoy the great outdoors.Choose a season when you don't have to worry about insects, and let's set off on an outdoor trip!

I came to Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture.Located on a small hill at an altitude of 230 meters, ``Kaze no Kuni'' is a resort facility packed with a variety of fun activities such as lodging, hot springs, experience workshops, tennis, and grand golf on approximately 33 hectares of land rich in nature.
From Kansai, we drove west on the Chugoku Expressway, and it took nearly 5 hours to arrive!
After checking in at the front desk in the main building, it's time to head to the tent! The first thing that caught our eye was the kids area. There were attractive play equipment such as a ``zip line'' where you slide down a wire using a pulley, and the children started playing with a different color of eyes, even though they were tired from the trip.
After playing in the kids area, we finally headed to the glamping site we were looking for!
In fact, one of the reasons I chose the Land of the Wind was because of the unique spherical tent. As the catchphrase says, ``Stay in the forest,'' the tents are located in a corner of the forest filled with coniferous trees, like a secret base, so you'll feel as if you're on an expedition.
My son, who just turned 7 years old, saw the tent and said something. "It looks like it's floating in the air! Does it fly at night?"
It certainly looks like it could fly in the sky, but that's not the case!
There were two beds and a side table inside the tent, and an oil heater was installed. The bed was also equipped with an electric blanket, so I didn't have to worry about the cold at all!
Amenities such as yukatas, bath towels, toothbrushes, and towels are also available.Washrooms and toilets are located at the entrance of the tent site, so you can spend a comfortable time even though you are outdoors.
What's more, you can enjoy the view of the forest from the transparent part of the tent, so you can enjoy your stay while still feeling like an explorer.
The glamping site has three spherical tents and two hemispherical tents, and one of the highlights is the photogenic view at night! When it gets completely dark, the tent is lit up and the forest becomes a magical space.
In the summer, enjoy BBQ on the garden deck while looking at the lush grass and sky!
What about winter...?Just as I was thinking that, I was guided to a tent set up next to the garden deck!In winter, you can enjoy hotpots with the theme of "Japanese Glamping."I'm excited to see what kind of menu they have in store.
The main feature of the winter menu is shabu-shabu featuring Maruhime pork, a specialty of Gotsu City, Shimane Prefecture, where the facility is located! The pork is thick yet soft and sweet, making it a satisfying meal.In addition to the sashimi platter where you can enjoy the seafood of Shimane, you can also enjoy a la carte dishes such as sake-steamed clams and chawan-mushi, as well as earthenware pot rice with clams. The rice was soaked in so much soup stock from fresh clams grown in Matsue that the children cried out for another helping.
By the way, the ponzu sauce for shabu-shabu is also excellent. When I asked the staff, they said they were selling it at the store next to the restaurant, so I bought it and took it home!
For breakfast, guests receive a breakfast set in a basket at the restaurant in the main building. On days when the weather is nice, it's recommended to eat outside while enjoying the picnic atmosphere. This time it was snowing, so it was time for breakfast at the restaurant ``MORI KAZE KITCHEN'' where you can see the beautiful mountains from the large windows.
On the second day of our trip, we decided to try our hand at woodworking at the "Kaze no Kobo" on the premises!
At this workshop, you can not only make chopsticks, bamboo dragonflies, and wooden clocks, but also try your hand at painting wind chimes and making paper.Depending on the content, you may need to make a reservation in advance, so if you are interested, please inquire in advance.
Our children tried making chopsticks and bamboo dragonflies! They enjoyed making each piece for about an hour, carving the wood with a knife, shaping it with sandpaper, and adding patterns with an electric pen.My son was very satisfied when he learned how to make bamboo dragonflies fly far!
If you have come from a long distance to visit this facility, we recommend staying multiple nights!
In addition to tents, accommodation options include cottages where you can stay with your pet, as well as Japanese and Western rooms in the main building. One of the unique charms of the Land of the Wind is that you can enjoy your trip in a different way by changing your accommodation.
We moved to the cottage on the second day.I had an elegant time, feeling like I had come from a secret base to a villa in the mountains.
For an additional fee, you can choose to have a kaiseki meal or a Japanese breakfast, so you can change the content of your meal.At the Kaiseki meal, enjoy the braised pork made with Maruhime pork!Just like the glamping menu, it was a luxurious meal that allowed you to fully enjoy the food of Shimane.
The snow started falling midway through the trip, but by the time we got back, it had piled up and the whole area was covered in silver!Stargazing, which is recommended in winter, was not possible due to the weather, but the children were overjoyed to see the snowy scenery, which is a rare sight. At first, I was a little worried about glamping in winter, but it was warm inside the tent, and the dinner menu kept me warm, so I didn't feel cold at all. What's more, this ``Kaze no Kuni'' also has hot springs that are said to be good for beautiful skin! This facility is perfect for enjoying winter glamping.
Best of all, our family was able to enjoy nature without seeing a single insect.
``Let's come again next year!'' The person who said that was none other than my bug-hating dad who wasn't really interested in the outdoors!
